Our latest disc has been released!
In 2017, we were presenting a new programme, "Horizons". A programme which would give an important part to creation: on 18 pieces in our CD, 4 were performed in public for the first time. They were specially wrote for the Ensemble Sottovoce. Besides the wonderful music of the French Composer Michel Bosc, who was already present in our latest disc (Sacré Anniversaire, 2017), we discover some talents as Japanese composer Nobuya Monta through two Japanese psalm and equally the promising Kosovian composer Memli Kelmendi, and his wonderful piece "Silentium est Pax".
"Horizons" equally explores popular music, through some arrangements from worldwide known pieces as Scarborough Fair (Simon & Garfungel, arranged by Mary Goetze) or Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen, arranged by Roger Emerson). The disc comprises also some classical famous pieces as Ave Maria from Caccini (arranged by Patrick Liebergen) or the Cantique de Jean Racine from French composer Gabriel Fauré.
This disc has been recorded in live through 2017 Ensemble Sottovoce's Tour, in Saint-Jean du Baly Church (18th August, Lannion), Saint-Pierre church (26th August, Arradon) and Calvairiennes' Monastry (16th September, Redon). All these cities are located in Britanny, France.
They have composed for us
Since its creation in 2011, the Ensemble Sottovoce has the willing to keep an important part of its work upon artistic creation. If the creation can express itself in various context, we particularly like the creation of a piece for their world premiere.
Nous dedicate this page to all the composers who have trust in us for the first performance of one of their pieces. Thank you a lot to them for this wonderful responsibility. We have a real pleasure to discover a new piece, work upon it and perform it for the first time in public.
Get back to the international collaborations we had in the past years ; thanks to the magic of social medias.Tour d'horizon sur les collaborations internationales qui ont vues le jour au cours des dernières années, notamment grâce à la magie des réseaux sociaux.
Created in 2011, the Ensemble Sottovoce is a vocal quartet which has two main characteristics:
The first one is to be a vocal quartet, and to only have four permanent members.
The second one is that the Ensemble is composed by young musicias and singers, aged less than 30.

AT THE BEGINNING, A FUND RAISING FOR AN EDUCATIONAL TRIP.
At the beginning of 2011, Angéline Johnston proposed to three of her friends to create a vocal quartet, in order to realize a fund raising for an educational trip organized in a primary school of Vannes (Britanny, France). The first concert of the Ensemble is organized on April 16th, 2011, at the Church St Vincent-Ferrier in Vannes.
It is the beginning of the adventure for the young singers : they decided to continue the experience after the concert and created the Ensemble Sottovoce.
A GROWING SUCESS THROUGH THE YEARS.
In July 2011, few months after its first concert, the Ensemble Sottovoce has opened "Chapels in concert" Festival, organized by the tourist office of Auray, in Britanny. In 2013, the Ensemble opened the "07 Chapels in Arts" Festival in Guidel (Britanny) and participated to the "A Nau Voix" Festival organized in Le Pouliguen (France), near La Baule.
Since 2011, the Ensemble Sottovoce has made more than twenty concerts. Singing in a reduced vocal ensemble is a rather unusual initiative in France, and the Ensemble Sottovoce proposes to their public a new experience, though a large and eclectic repertoire, going to the very begining of the Baroque period until the contemporary pieces.
AN ENSEMBLE WHICH ALSO WORKS ON SOCIAL MEDIAS
Dowloaded few days after a concert in July 2011, a first recording of the famous "Cantique de Jean Racine", written by Gabriel Fauré, has had good results on the Youtube platform, with thousands of views around the world.
One year later, the Ensemble has decided to create its own Youtube Channel and has often downloaded pieces since four years. Like this, the Ensemble has risen its audience thanks to the social medias and had some amazing opportunities thanks to the Internet, like working with professional soloists or singing unpublished works by living composers.
