Projet de création musicale autour de l'univers de l'écrivain et conteur danois Hans Andersen (1805-1875). THE TALE OF TALES Michel BOSC In creation This musical creation project takes the form of an interactive narrative between a children's choir and a quartet of soloists around the world of the Danish novelist Hans Andersen (1805-1875). Prolific author, he writes more than a hundred tales of which certain stories will become famous (The Snow Queen, the Ugly Little Carnard, The Vaillant Soldier of Lead, the Little Mermaid). In this piece, written by French composer Michel BOSC, the characters from the world of Andersen come to life, starting with the storyteller himself. There follows a dialogue with a children's choir around its stories and its characters, a dream cradled in enchantment, adventure and twists and turns. A centuries-old instrument, the organ is a landmark and unconditional instrument of sacred music. Its impressive architecture as well as its particular tones have inspired generations of composers and faithful throughout the centuries... Organ & Voice A centuries-old instrument, the organ is a landmark and unconditional instrument of sacred music. Its impressive architecture as well as its particular tones have inspired generations of composers and faithful throughout the centuries. We initiated this program at the request of Jean-Paul Muller and the association of the Organ of the Sainte-Bernadette-du-Kreisker church in Lorient (AOSBL), who wanted a musical moment uniting voice and organ to mark the inaugural season of the building's new baroque-inspired organ. To do so, we could conceive of counting on the active participation of organists Mickaël Gaborieau & Teddy Garbet to design a program from scratch. "Organ and Voice" delivers to the public a singular complementarity, surprising the audience by the harmonic power as by the palette of nuances of the pieces integrated into this program. Created in 2011, the Ensemble Sottovoce is a musical ensemble with two main caracteriscs. The first one is to be a vocal quartet and to being composed by four full-time members. The second one is that the Sottovoce Ensemble is comprised by young singers and musiciens, professionals or semi-professionals. © Isabelle Bleckmann - July 2016. AT THE BEGINNING, A FUND RAISING FOR AN EDUCATIONAL TRIP. At the beginning of 2011, Angéline Johnston proposed to three of her friends to create a vocal quartet, in order to realize a fund raising for an educational trip organized in a primary school of Vannes (Brittany, France). The first concert of the Ensemble is organized on April 16th, 2011, at the Church St Vincent-Ferrier in Vannes. It is the beginning of the adventure for the ensemble: they decided to pursue this experience after their first concert and created the Sottovoce Ensemble. L'année 2012 est marquée par l'arrivée de Baptiste Guittet (pianiste) et de François Le Mer (baryton-basse). Baptiste restera aux côtés de l'Ensemble Sottovoce jusqu'en 2013, François ne quittera l'Ensemble qu'en 2020 après huit années à nos côtés. Ces trois années marquent l'arrivée de l'Ensemble Sottovoce sur les réseaux sociaux. L'Ensemble Sottovoce publie un premier enregistrement du Cantique de Jean Racine, enregistré à Plumergat en 2011. Un enregistrement du Lacrimosa, extrait du Requiem de W.A. Mozart est enregistré et publié quelques mois plus tard. Ce dernier enregistrement demeure à ce jour la vidéo la plus visionnée de l'Ensemble. L'Ensemble Sottovoce se retrouve autour de nouveaux concerts dès 2012, à Larmor-Plage, Noyal-Muzillac, Hennebont et Saint-Philibert. En 2013, l'Ensemble Sottovoce est convié à ouvrir le Festival des 07 Chapelles en Arts de Guidel (56). Cette même année, il participe au Festival "A Nau Voix" du Pouliguen (44) où sa prestation est saluée comme l'un des moments forts du festival. En 2014, il se produit à Lannion, à Camors et Saint-Philibert. 2012 marque également de premières collaborations artistiques : Michel Bosc, compositeur français, nous dédie une pièce religieuse "O quam suavis", intégrée dans la programmation estivale de l'été 2012. D'autres collaboration suivront dans les années à venir. A GROWING SUCESS THROUGH THE YEARS. L'Ensemble Sottovoce à Quiberon, en août 2017 - © Isabelle Bignonet Downloaded few days after a concert in July 2011, a first recording of the famous "Cantique de Jean Racine", composed by the French composer Gabriel Fauré, has had good results on the Youtube platform, with thousands of views around the world. One year later, the Sottovoce Ensemble has decided to create its own Youtube channel and downloads several pieces recordings each year. Like this, it has risen its audience and thanks to the social medias, create a community which gave to the Ensemble some amazing opportunities like working with professional soloists or singing unpublished works and exclusive creations by living composers. © Isabelle Bleckmann & Nicolas Fourault 2018-2022 : UN NOUVEL ÉLAN L'Ensemble Sottovoce à Paris, en janvier 2020 - © Francis Payol In July 2011, few months after its first concert, the Sottovoce Ensemble has been invited to open the "Chapels in concert" festival, organized by Auray's tourist office, in Britanny. The Sottovoce Ensemble has made numerous collaborations then, as with the "7 chapelles en arts" Festival in Guidel (2013), "Festival de la Baie des Caps" in Étables-sur-Mer (2016), Les Musicales de Redon (2017), Les Folles Journées Polyphoniques in South of France (2018) or the Open Music Festival (2019). They integrated the musical season of St-Merry's church in Paris in 2020. Since 2011, the Ensemble Sottovoce has made more than forty concerts. Singing in a reduced vocal ensemble is a rather unusual initiative, and the Ensemble Sottovoce proposes to their public a new experience, though a large and eclectic repertoire, going to the very beginning of the Baroque period until contemporary pieces and exclusive creations. © Francis Payol L'Ensemble Sottovoce à Pont-Scorff, en juillet 2020 - © Francis Payol Si la crise liée à la Covid-19 réduit de manière conséquente notre activité entre mars 2020 et l'été 2021, cette pause contrainte nous permet d'assurer une transition importante dans la vie de notre ensemble. François Le Mer, partant début 2020, cède sa place au baryton-basse professionnel Adrien Bâty, qui dote l'ensemble d'une nouvelle palette sonore. Le programme "Le temps d'une chanson" réalisé pour le dixième anniversaire de l'Ensemble et donné en première à Cléguer le 6 juin 2021 est empreint de ces nouvelles couleurs. Pour l'occasion, le compositeur gallois Robat Arwyn est sollicité et dédie un "Ave Maria" spécifiquement écrit pour l'Ensemble Sottovoce. L'Ensemble Sottovoce est convié dans le cadre de la saison estivale de la ville de Ploemel courant juillet 2021. Ce même mois, il présente son dernier programme en l'Église d'Arradon, avant d'être invité à produire Le temps d'une chanson à Lorient, en juin 2022. Fin 2022, l'Ensemble Sottovoce réunit 83 contributeurs et lève près de 4 000 € pour financer la réalisation du disque consacré a leur tout nouveau programme. Le temps d'une chanson, quatrième disque de l'Ensemble Sottovoce, sort le 15 mars 2023. © Francis Payol 2023-2026 : DE NOUVELLES EMPREINTES L'Ensemble Sottovoce à l'issue d'un concert donné en l'Église de Carnac, le 1er août 2023 - © Francis Payol L'année 2023 est une année charnière pour l'Ensemble. Hélène Landais décide de suspendre sa participation à l'Ensemble Sottovoce quelques temps pour s'installer dans les Outre-mer. Elle est remplacée par Constance Le Hête qui assure la tournée estivale 2023 de l'Ensemble Sottovoce, qui conduit le quatuor à se produire à Arradon, Larmor-Plage et Carnac, devant près de deux cents personnes. Adrien Bâty est quand à lui remplacée par Martin Barigault sur deux concerts de cette tournée estivale. Théodore Lambert assure la partie piano sur l'ensemble de cette tournée. En dépit de ces nombreux changements, l'Ensemble Sottovoce pérennise son fonctionnement et assure trois beaux concerts autour d'un programme légèrement remanié qui met à l'honneur son dernier enregistrement, et met à l'honneur quelques nouvelles pièces au répertoire. En 2026, l'Ensemble Sottovoce revient pour de nouveaux concerts dans la région bretonne. Nous avons hâte de vous y retrouver ! © Francis Payol
